How to Return a Short Backspin Serve: Forehand Flick - Beginners Level with Jim Clegg
Sports
Published on Apr 29, 2024
Jim Clegg, ETTA Level 4 Qualified Coach, explains for beginners how to return a short backspin serve using the forehand flick. Jim demonstrates understanding spin, how to identifiy whether you'll need to move in to return the serve, the contact point and follow through for the shot before returning to the ready position.
Jim also demonstrates how not to play the forehand flick so you'll be able to recognise where you can go wrong with this shot.
Jim has recently retired as Preston Table Tennis Associations head coach and this will probably be the last video he agrees to make for us.
This video was filmed at our Table Tennis Centre in the St Augustine's Centre in Preston which is co owned by Newman College and Preston City Council.
